WEEK 29 me quedo en Comodoro

hola familia! how is everyone?? this week was a really good one! unfortunately nobody came to church this sunday but we also started working a lot closer with a man named Fernando. he is a really cool guy who we got as a reference from ne of the hermanos in the ward . we`ve had about 5 lessons with him in the past two weeks which is more than we almost ever have. sometimes after a lesson Elder powell and i just talk between ourselves about how amazingly prepared he is. every lesson we have he always seems to be saying just the right thing he really wants to be baptized and we`re really excited for him! he cancelled on coming to church this week though and right now we`re still trying to figure out what happened. The rest of our area is still basically the same, lots of walking lots of hard work and we`re still hoping to see some more results from our efforts. our are by many has been labeled the hardest area in the mission but who knows really! so in other news one elder left our apartment this transfer because he went up to be a zone leader. and his replacement is…. ELDER MINER my MTC comp! so im looking forward to having a crazy fun transfer here!

hi everybody! so this week we had another fairly average week! which means… 10 plus miles walked every day, one evengelical lady yelling at us about how the book of mormon can´t be true, 2 close calls with dog bites. 1 very bad sun burn and still no bikes!! but thats my fault now! so everything is going good. unfortunately we weren´t able to bring anybody to the chapel this week but its okay because we´re still dealing with a lot of really well prepared peope and i´m sure they´ll all be baptized by the time i leave! so quick testimony that a testimny of the book of mormon is the most important thing that anybody can have! chao!!

WEEK 27 Happy new years!

hi everyone! so this week was new years week! that means that for missionaries nothing is that different! we were able to have a new years eve party with a really awesome family that we also went to go see on christmas. they invite a bunch of people over and we were able to even get a really cool reference from this party! so if anyone was wondering about new years parties here….. they´re exactly the same! so thats fun. there were lots of fireworks and lots of food and lots of talking about how it was only 7o´clock at home when we were partying!  so this week also the mission refocused on just teaching more and more. so elder ppowell and i contacted basically all day everyday so that we could find people to teach. definitely one of the hardest areas in the mission! but we were able to teach 16 lessons wich is a record for the area. we´re still pushing (like all the mission) for at least 21 lessons every week. cool experiences of the week include: 3 people when we asked if they were reading the book of mormon actually said that yes they were in fact reading!! wooo it kind of left us in a strange position because we are pretty used to re teaching why people need to read! we were pretty lost everytime but it all worked out. alright! chao!!

WEEK 26earth wind and fire

hola familia!

wooo congratulations Ashley and Bowen!!! woooooo!! i´m super excited that everything went well and that things are good! I know everyones is busy so ill just share a few things. 1. benifit of 2 gringos contacting in a country where they only kind of speak the language is… sometimes you accidentily contact a zoo/cherry farm! and get free tours and cherries! and two cool new investigators who live inside a zoo!! anyway this letter is called earth wind and fire because it is super hot here, its only cooled down by the wind which is crazy strong and that wind then in turn throws a bunch of dirt around! generally what im saying is my glasses are pretty scrached up. buut everything is awsome here. i got a package from dad on wednesday with a soccer ball and skittles if you were all trying to see what would get here first or anything, and i don´t know if we are actually getting bikes or not i haven´t heard anything from the zone leaders so we´ll see! alright for  skype i need you guys to send me your skype info asap so that i´ll have it on sunday to call you! we aren´t sure exactly what time we´ll be calling so im gonna try and do it around 3or 4 MY time which is about 10 or 11 Your time also ill try and send you guys an email before so you know im trying!

WEEK 25 Im dreaming of a brown christmas

so here i am in Comodoro rividavia! the big city! except for my area! Sooo basically if you take a foto of yakima and add more dirt more wind and have less people thats like my area! sooo i love it! i think right now though im gonna start the campaign for gettig bikes! because its about a 35 minute walk to the house of closest investigator and then you can keep going for another hour or so just walking and you still don{t get to the end! so my new comp elder powell says hi, also he is one transfer newer than me and is a california movie maker. super cool and we talk about movies and music all the time so its pretty good. lets see this week i saw some horses some turkeys some dogs inside a bank and honestly its felt like 3 weeks since ive been able to write! so im gonna spnd my time responding to everyone wooo!

WEEK 24 – transferred!

so my  wonderful time here in rio gallgos is coming to an end! i will be traveling later today 12 hours to my new area in Comodoro rivadavia! wooo im gonna be the senior companion to a gringo named elder powell! he came in a transfer after me so its gonna be a rough time trying to speak spanish to everyone! other highlights of this week: Elder teixiera the president of south america south, which is Argentina Chile paraguay and Uruguay came to our mission (to my chapel really) and gave us a really good training! it was really good and really humbling. when i had come into the mission i remembered saying to people things like oh we should be teaching more lessons and theres no reason not to be achieving more but as time went on i lowered my expections for myself and for the people around me and thats exactly what we talked about with elder teixiera. he said are mission is performing below what we could be and what we should be. We have a great president and now is the time to work. So now i have the chance to go and be senior companion and really put into effect all the things that i would like to do and i know that if we work here the way i know we can we will see a lot of results!

Week 23 Dia De Accion De Gracias!

hi fam, alright here we go. this week was super good! we found 5 new people to teach which is definitely a personal record! but first the food. so on thanksgiving day we recieved a cal from the zone leaders saying that on friday all the gringos would be cooking a thanksgiving feast for lunch (cause the big meal they eat is lunch here if you forgot). so that day we made tons of improvised stuff cause you can´t just go to the store and buy stuffing or gravy or a turkey. which im sure sounds really milenial of me but hey none of knew how to cook thanksgiving things! but it turned out good and it was super fun! so heres an experience that i had when i was contacting with elder Ross in my area this week. So we had already contacted about 15 people and none of them were receptive if not aggressivly against hearing our message. so i was pretty tired of contacting so i threw my arms up and yelled at the sky, are we not doing our part?? where are the prepared people? so the next house we knocked on this lady answered the door and before we could even talk she said oh elders would you like to come in? so this lady is super cool, her name is Ayalen (pronounced ashlyn here) and here granparents were members in trelew (another city in the mission) and when we brought out a book of mormon she was like.. wait a minute… and ran into the back of here house and pulled out a signed triple that here grandma had given her. the whole experience was really humbling! but thats what we´re up to! I love and miss all of you!

Week 22

hola familia! not a lot to say this week! unfortunately im probably not gonna be able to send any of the video journals because to upload one of about 3 minutes takes an hour and a half! sooo too long. we had a good week this week including but not limited too: primary programs contacting walking many lessons with less active ladies, walking, getting beat at soccer and walking! but really everything is going good here, we´re really trying to find more people to teach because we only have one person thats progressing and they want to move their baptism till later! thanks for all your emails and prayers!

Week 21 video journals!

Hi family! so this week i had a few realizations. 1. i really really have a hard time writing in ajournal. 2. I really really need to keep some other kind of record of what im doing here soooo i started making a video journal! so far its going way better than keeping a written journal and bonus i can send it to you guys with the wonders of the internet! so heres what im gonna do along with all my pictures is im gonna make a google drive account and put all my pictures and everything in there and then share it with everyone so hopefully there won´t be any more problems seeing pictures! woo. alright this week! this week we really focused on sharing the book of mormon as a whole mission. so we contacted with it and shared scriptures solely from the book of mormon and gave out all the books that we had in our appartment. so we already have seen awesome things from that! another thing we started doing was keeping track of all the key indicators wich before in the mission we weren´t doing this started about 2-3 weeks ago when first i brought up in a district meeting that we have all these indicators for a reason and we should be keeping track of them (for example we weren´t asking for any references or anything) then a week later in zone conference the zone leaders announced that we will now be keeping track of all the key indicators. Coincidence?? i think that probably yes it is. Alright so miracles we saw with asking for references are many and we actually recieved at least 1 good reference every time that we asked wich i think is pretty cool. but here is the number one experience of the week: so we had a lesson with a sister that just got out of the hospital and we went to check up on her. after a lesson (and a delicious pineapple), we were just about to ask who should say the prayer when i remembered to ask for references, so i did that and she said wait here. so she went into the back of her house into an area with little apprtments and brought a guy and said this is Jorge, teach him. so we tought another really cool spiritual lesson with jorge and as it turns out he really needed a book of mormon, which we just happened to have a lot of (thanks book of mormon week). Anyway family im gonna go try and upload all my videos to the internet and read your emails!
